Long Reef Golf Club, located in Collaroy, New South Wales, opened in 1921 as a nine-hole course on high coastal sands. Dan Soutar expanded it to an 18-hole championship layout in 1931, and Peter Thomson's redesign in 1994 improved its playability. The club features kikuyu fairways and Poa Annua greens overlooking the Tasman Sea, with stunning cliff-top tee shots on holes seven and sixteen. The clubhouse was built in 1965, and a proposal for a AUD22 million renovation was submitted in June 2025. Long Reef ranks among Australia’s top public courses and partners with local conservation groups to protect headland flora.
Seaside links with relentless coastal views and firm, fast greens that reward bold shotmaking. Wide fairways and clever bunkering make it fun for all abilities, and the clubhouse service is welcoming. A clear downside is slow play at peak times.
