Kooyonga Golf Club

Adelaide, SA
Established 1923

Kooyonga Golf Club is a private 18-hole, par-72 championship course in Lockleys, South Australia, established in 1923. Designed by H.L. "Cargie" Rymill, with later refinements by Crafter & Mogford, it sits in undulating sand-hill terrain only 15 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD. The course stretches approximately 6,308 metres from the back tees and features heavy bunkering, tree-lined fairways and firm, contoured greens offering strategic challenges. The club has hosted multiple national and state titles including five Australian Opens, recent Women’s Australian Open in 2018, and numerous South Australian Opens and Amateur Championships. Facilities include a newly renovated clubhouse with dining and terrace areas overlooking the course, a Golf Academy with state-of-the-art teaching aids, a driving range, short game practice areas (putting green, chipping green, bunker practice), and a pro shop. The modern clubhouse and hospitality spaces are also used for weddings and functions, supporting views and natural surroundings. Visitors are welcome by arrangement, especially through the course’s reciprocal club membership or by booking open days. With rich history, excellent facilities, and proximity to the city, it offers both a stern test of golf and a striking venue for social enjoyment.
