Lakewood Shores (also known as Binningup Golf Club) was a highly regarded 9-hole coastal links-style golf course located on Lakes Parade, Binningup, Western Australia. Designed by Michael Coate in 1986, it wound through gently rolling sand dunes with ocean views, and gained praise for its simplicity, charm and honesty-box green-fee system. Many considered it one of Australia’s best 9-hole courses. The course officially closed permanently in April 2020, after temporary closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, maintenance has been discontinued: holes have been filled, longer grass has grown, and flags removed. The site now remains closed to golfers, and the former green-keeper and 80 or so members have dispersed. While it is no longer playable, the legacy of Lakewood Shores endures among the Western Australian golf community for its character and unique links setting.
